100 percent?
Reports in the US press say this is what ILEC Qwest Communications International found when it analysed results of a recent survey it sponsored last month. Some 1,000 U.S.-based IT professionals were polled regarding their knowledge and opinions about the use of VoIP in their companies.
When asked what the primary influencer was to install VoIP, 64 percent of those responding reported cost savings, while 36 percent noted it was the availability of features and improved productivity. In addition, more than 70 percent of IT managers want their VoIP solutions to come from a company that owns its own national fiber network versus a provider that leases Internet access from other companies.
“The findings show that VoIP has arrived. It is being adopted by mainstream businesses – not just technical companies, which typically embrace new technologies first,” says Eric Bozich, VP national network services at Qwest. “We are finding productivity gains and feature benefits are emerging as key drivers for implementing VoIP. Cost savings are always important, but the real benefit of VoIP will be the long-term productivity benefits.”
