Chris Russell has led the injection of over £1.5 million of new equity funding from himself and a number of private investors which sees him take a majority share holding in the company. He has also accepted the appointment to become managing director of the Group. Russell’s investment and executive input is welcomed by all current stakeholders in the company.
Russell was part of the original team that led Sony into the mobile airtime market in 1995. He helped to build a £50 million turnover consumer focused mobile service provider business for Sony that was successfully sold to Vodafone in 2000. Following other key appointments in the Sony Group he led the management buyout of Sony’s business to business mobile service provider in 2003 which became Intelicoms. Intelicoms evolved into a highly profitable fixed and mobile reseller which was sold to the Arrow Group in 2007.
“My previous communication businesses successfully rode the consumer mobile and mobile data waves. I am now really excited to work with the new team in order to target the convergence of the fixed, mobile and IT markets as this next wave of change transforms our industry,” said Russell.
The new Board will consist of Russell, Mark Edworthy (Corporate Development Director), Rob Munro (Operations Director), Thiery Wong (Finance Director) and Jeremy Clarke (Sales Director). The board will direct the 50 staff from the new Headquarters in Weybridge, Surrey which opened in August 2009.
