CityFibre completes primary build of Bracknell network

More than 30,000 premises now ready for service.

CityFibre has completed the primary build of its full fibre network in Bracknell.

The new network is now ready for service to more than 30,000 homes, around 83 per cent of Bracknell homes and most businesses. Bracknell is the latest town in CityFibre’s nationwide rollout.

Construction began on the £20 million project in 2021 and while the primary build is now complete, CityFibre will continue to explore opportunities to connect more homes and businesses, including flats, new-build homes, business parks and homes on private roads.

CityFibre’s network offers download and upload speeds of up to 2.5Gbps and is capable of supporting symmetrical speeds of up to 10Gbps in the future.

Residents in Bracknell can now receive affordable, gigabit-capable and reliable full fibre broadband from a range of ISPs including Vodafone, TalkTalk, Giganet, IDNet and Zen. All homes passed by the network can schedule a full fibre installation within five working days of placing an order.

Neil Madle, partnership manager at CityFibre, said, “Our rollout in Bracknell marks an exciting step forward for digital connectivity across the town. With the UK’s best available digital infrastructure under its streets, residents, businesses and public institutions will be able to reap the benefits for generations to come.

“Bracknell is a town filled with opportunity and ambition, which is why it has always been such an important build for us. Full fibre is vital for the UK market’s long-term growth, and we look forward to building on our previous success powering the town’s future economic development.”

Cllr Paul Bidwell, cabinet member for economy and regeneration at Bracknell Forest Council, said, “The completion of CityFibre’s full fibre rollout marks an exciting milestone in the upgrade of our town’s infrastructure. Fast reliable internet services are a key part of the connectivity agenda within the council’s economic strategy. This fuels business growth, leading to greater prosperity for all Bracknell residents.”
