SuperBreak Mini Holidays - a Daisy client based in badly-affected York - invoked its Business Continuity plan after the River Foss burst its banks, depriving the firm’s head office of its connectivity.
After being notified of the outage just before midnight on 27th December, Daisy’s Wakefield Business Continuity Centre was up and running and ready for the arrival of 25 SuperBreak employees at 9am the following day.
SuperBreak Mini Holidays CTO, Tim Wadhams said: “It was a pretty extreme set of circumstances that led to us having to vacate our office, but the Daisy guys made it a relatively pain-free process.”
Following four days at Daisy’s Wakefield-based Business Continuity Centre, SuperBreak’s staff were able to return to their premises.
Mr Wadhams went on: “Thankfully we were able to return to our office pretty quickly. We are now back to business as normal.”
Daisy Managing Director of Business Continuity Mike Osborne commented: “This is just one of the fantastic examples of how important it is for businesses to plan for the unexpected. The few days after Christmas can be a busy time for the travel and hospitality industry; as the festive blues kick in, people start to plan for the year ahead. Without its business continuity plan in place, SuperBreak would have suffered, both in bookings and reputation.
“Of course, reacting to disaster on our clients’ behalf is an important part of the work that we do for our customers, however it’s important to understand that that is not all we are about. We work on a daily basis to proactively protect and maintain our clients’ businesses. I’m delighted that SuperBreak is now back where it belongs.”
As well as SuperBreak Mini Holidays, three more of Daisy’s York-based customers were placed on standby due to the environmental threat to their offices.
