With an upsurge in bandwidth-demanding services and a growth in customers being served, Daisy took the proactive and early decision to upgrade its core network to 100 Gigabits per second.
Also known as the “Daisy Digital Platform”, the network is monitored and proactively managed, ensuring optimum experience for customers.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Walter Rossi, Director of Architecture and Strategy, said: “Virtually every Daisy service, including broadband, internet access, wide area networking, voice, cloud and hosting is supported by our core network. It is at the heart of all of our operations.
“It is only logical for us to make the next big step and prepare for the further customer growth and the relentless capacity demands that brings”.
Daisy’s digital platform comprises a fully resilient optical ring architecture in the south of England, serving all customer access, interconnects, peering and nationally distributed data centres.
Daisy’s MPLS/IP Core Network is based on the Cisco ASR9000 service provider routing platform. By adding the 100 Gigabit Ethernet capability, the network is now able to deliver a tenfold increase in capacity.
Through a strong partnership with Cisco, the upgrade was planned and executed smoothly without impact to customers.
