Dorset gets Connected

Businesses with a BH or DT post code in the Dorset area that need to be connected to the Internet to assist their business, can now apply for funding to provide superfast broadband, via the Government Connection Voucher Scheme.

Poole-based telecommunication firm VoIP Unlimited provides a variety of connectivity services to small and medium businesses, and is officially registered as a supplier for all regions of the Connection Voucher scheme.

The scheme provides grants of up to £3,000 to fund the installation of new broadband connections for SMEs with fewer than 250 people or volunteers. Businesses must have a turnover of less than £41m, a balance sheet of less than £35m and have received less than €200k in public grants in the last three years.

VoIP Unlimited is offering quotes for SMEs who want to apply for funding. The SME must then complete a simple standard application form.

Mark Pillow, managing director at VoIP Unlimited, said: “Increasing connectivity speed can benefit businesses in so many ways, from increasing profits by offering better services to more satisfied customers, to enhancing your customers’ experience with quicker, communication and faster file-sharing thanks to higher upload and download speeds.”

He added: “Superfast broadband can also reduce software and hardware costs by helping a company switch to online data storage solutions. The Government Connection Voucher Scheme will undoubtedly be a game changer for SMEs across the UK.”
