The THUS NGN was rolled out in 1999 making it the first telecoms provider in the UK to develop a national network capable of offering fully converged services based on Internet Protocol and Multi Protocol Label-Switching, an approach only now being mirrored in BT's ongoing build of its 21st Century Network. THUS’ nomination was received for the method in which it communicated the benefits of this new and innovative technology, raising market awareness and educating the industry on the advantages of next-generation networks.
Deborah Rodger, Head of Product Communication and Programmes, THUS plc commented: “Our NGN, one of the most technically advanced networks in the UK, provides a single platform for the deployment of advanced business applications, consolidating and extending communication networks. Being nominated for a Europe-wide award reflects our achievements in educating the business community to the potential of next-generation services and informing customers of the best communication solutions for their businesses”.
