The deal enables Indigo to add legacy network disposal and value recovery to its network design, management and maintenance skills. This brings a fully end to end service to Indigo’s customers, at a time when simply leaving decommissioned equipment in place is unacceptable. Furthermore, the costs of removal are minimised as engineers may be on site installing new network infrastructure.

According to a report published by PricewaterhouseCoopers, nearly 90% of wireline operators indicated that they intend to decommission legacy networks over the next five years, driven by the need to reduce operating costs, improve customer experience, eliminate redundant networks or shift traffic to a more efficient network. Of those surveyed, 75% plan to physically remove decommissioned assets from their network, with a vast majority planning to sell or otherwise dispose of them.
