Karnes has spearheaded more than $15 billion of Wall Street capital markets and M&A transactions, including initial public offerings, private offerings and venture capital and private equity. In addition to serving as CFO for Mariner Energy, KiOR, Houston Exploration, and CyberCash, earlier in his career, Karnes practiced law with the national law firm of Kirkland & Ellis, specialising in public securities offerings and acquisitions.

John Carse joined Alert Logic in the role of Vice President of Security Operations. In this role, Carse will be responsible for Alert Logic’s global security and compliance teams who provide 24x7 monitoring of its more than 3,800 customers’ IT infrastructures. This includes Alert Logic ActiveWatch Services, Alert Logic LogReview Service, Alert Logic ActiveWatch Premier and all other Security Operations Center (SOC) operations across two continents. Carse joins Alert Logic from JP Morgan Chase where he served as Vice President of Global CyberSecurity Engineering. Carse has significant international experience having lived and worked in Bahrain and Japan, serving in leadership roles at Computer Sciences Corporation, ITT Exelis, FlowBridge and IBM.
Bob Layton joined Alert Logic in the role of Vice President of Global Channels. In this capacity, Layton will guide the channels that are principally responsible for the company’s strong growth in cloud, hosting, global systems integration, distribution and emerging business models in the traditional VAR space.
Layton joins from Pluribus Networks where he served as Vice President of Sales and Channels for the Americas and Europe. In this role, Layton established the Pluribus sales organisation, including creating Channel programs for its market-leading software defined networking, analytics and data centre virtualization solutions. Prior to Pluribus, Layton was Vice President of Sales for Lumenate, a Cisco channel partner. Layton joined Lumenate after eight years at Cisco serving in a series of increasingly responsible sales and channel management leadership roles. Prior to his years at Cisco, Layton held enterprise sales positions with Xerox and Thomson Reuters.
