Mitchinson commented: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Samsung and making the decision to leave such a great company was far from easy but I genuinely feel it’s time I spent some quality time with my family over the summer before embarking on an MBA later in the year. I’m immensely proud of what we have achieved as a team since I joined Samsung back in July 1999 and I leave behind an amazing group of highly talented and dedicated people.
“Clearly the opportunity to run both the Samsung Mobile and IT divisions was very tempting and I genuinely appreciated the offer, but I really feel the time is now right to handover the reins. There is still huge potential and opportunity within the mobile/IT sector and I sincerely wish Samsung and their customers all the very best for the future,” said Mitchinson.
David Song, managing director at Samsung Electronics (UK) said: “Mark’s decision to leave Samsung was totally unexpected, but we respect his decision and wish him well. Mark has been a tremendous ambassador for Samsung and we recognise and really appreciate his entrepreneurial leadership and monumental achievements during the past decade.”
