The centre, situated in the heart of Birmingham, firmly established itself as a mosque before becoming a registered independent charity in 2008. They focus on providing a service to the thriving local community, which is diverse in ethnicity and rich in culture. They were being slowed down by their previous Internet connection, it could not support their VoIP system and left staff and volunteers unable to effectively fundraise for the centre.
Ishtiaq Ahmend from Green Lane Masjid approached Metronet (UK) when the decision came to change provider, “We were in desperate need of a fast Internet connection that was both cost effective and could be delivered quickly. As our centre is run purely on donations it was vital that we had a fast and robust Internet connection and Metronet (UK) really saved the day”.
Metronet (UK) installed a 50Mbps wireless leased line in order to support the existing VoIP system and provide the centre with enough bandwidth to run their full range of services and fundraising.
Amar Baghdadi, Head of New Business at Metronet (UK) said, “We are really glad we are able to help out Green Lane Masjid with our wireless connectivity solution. We’ve been connecting Birmingham businesses for many years now and we are happy to add the community centre to our growing list”.
