Microsoft has launched Windows 11 worldwide, with the latest version of Microsoft’s operating systems available as a free upgrade for Windows 10 users.
In a company blogpost, Wangui McKelvey, general manager, Microsoft 365, outlined four benefits of the new operating system. The upgrade is designed to be: easy to deploy and manage, app compatible, more secure, and designed to meet user needs and organisation budget requirements.
McKelvey said, “We are excited to announce Windows 11 is now generally available. We reimagined Windows 11 to be the operating system for hybrid work.”
She added that the operating system is intended to be “the most productive, most collaborative, and most secure version of Windows ever”.
Microsoft plans to retire Windows 10 in 2025, ten years after the operating system was launched.
