Midwich Ignite has announced a strategic investment in Ciqurix, a video flame detection technology company.
Midwich Ignite is the corporate venture capital arm of Midwich Group. Ciqurix is based in the UK and its solutions are designed to detect fire in challenging environments where traditional heat or smoke detection is ineffective.
Environments that might suit Ciqurix’s technology includes industrial areas, damp or wet environments, extreme temperatures (both high and low), and outside areas such as waste management plants.
The company’s flagship product is the Ciqurix Core system, which uses infrared and video analytics to detect fire with accuracy and range.
Another key product is the FCamXFP (pictured). This dual spectrum video flame detector analyses visual and infrared feeds to recognise and detect fire. The device is used as part of the Ciqurix Core system.
Will Fenby, investment manager at Midwich Ignite, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Ciqurix at this pivotal moment in the company’s development. We have been highly impressed by the team’s innovative approach to fire safety technology, with the company instrumental in drafting the new standard for VFDs, and believe the business is well-placed to take advantage of new regulatory tailwinds.
“We look forward to working with the Ciqurix team and supporting them through the next stage of growth.”
Paul Seligman, CEO of Ciqurix, added, “Partnering with Midwich represents an exceptional opportunity for us to broaden the reach of our FCam CORE system. With their industry expertise and global network, we’re well-positioned to expand our market and advance the adoption of video flame detection worldwide.
“It’s a very exciting move for our company and we’re delighted to be working with Midwich Ignite.”
Midwich Ignite acted as lead investor in the funding round and will take a seat on the board. The funding will be used to help Ciqurix achieve accreditation under LPS1976, a new fire standard that was recently introduced by the Fire Industry Association. There are not yet any accredited products on the market.
