The Nokia 3,5 and 6 have been introduced this week by HMD, sold under licence, with prices starting from €139 to €229. The phones will carry the Android operating system. The Nokia 3 is the smallest model with a 5 inch display but at just €139 it will be a compelling proposition for the lower end of the market. The Nokia 5 has a 5.2 inch display (€189) and the 6 model, which was released in China earlier in the year, has a full HD 5.5 inch screen.
The resurrected 3310 has had a revamp too, it’s running Nokia’s Series 30+ software, with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 2-megapixel camera, and even a microSD slot. Standby time on the Nokia 3310 is 31 days, alongside a talk time of 22 hours. Many nostalgic users will be delighted that snake has also been re-introduced.
"The 3310 was the first mass-market mobile and there's a massive amount of nostalgia and affection for it," commented Ben Wood from the technology consultancy CCS Insight.
The more cynical in the tech industry are calling the release a clever ploy to gain media attention for Nokia's other activities.
