The Communication Workers Union has welcomed confirmation that 165 new jobs will be created by BT in Belfast, with start dates of January 2014. The new roles will be located in Riverside Tower and will comprise advisors working in the BT Flex Centre which takes on short term contact centre assignments from around BT.
Andy Kerr, CWU deputy general secretary, said: “These new jobs are great news for job-seekers in Belfast and are further proof of BT’s ongoing commitment to UK-based jobs.
“We hope this expansion will be a success and that all these new staff are converted to permanent contracts on the basis of that success. There is a need for ongoing job security and if high-quality services can be delivered from Belfast then we want to see staff being rewarded with that job security.”
CWU has been involved in negotiations to bring these jobs to Belfast and supports the creation of new jobs. The positions are initially being offered on a short term contract basis with the option of being converted to permanent positions if the expansion is a success.
