Openwave and Alcatel-Lucent to deliver service management for providers

Networks & Network Services
Openwave Systems, a company that works to provide revenue generating personalised services to converge the mobile and broadband experience, has announced a joint collaboration to create preconfigured software solutions for service providers. The integrated solution is designed as a cost effective way for mobile operators and broadband providers to monetise the mobile and broadband internet services.

The initial roll out of the software solution will be powered by the Openwave Integra platform, a next generation open internet solution designed to rapidly enable open, secure multimedia and multi-protocol service deployment on converged networks.

It will also consist of service enablers including Openwave OpenWeb, an open internet browsing solution designed to enable operators to offer consumers a broader range of content choices by delivering full internet web pages in a user friendly and intelligent format to any mobile data enabled device; Openwave Passport, a service that enables mobile operators to tap into new revenue streams by offering on demand mobile internet access to consumers, and Openwave OpenMedia, an open, multimedia content adaptation service that is designed to make content more compelling on a mobile device. Openwave Location Manager and other internet service enablers are also expected to be included in future roll outs.

Jean-Pierre Gaillat, managing vice president systems and applications integration, Alcatel-Lucent, commented: “Leveraging the extensive system and applications integration expertise that Alcatel-Lucent offers, operators are able to launch new mobile services quickly and cost effectively in their multi vendor carrier grade networks.”
