Openwave’s SaaS delivery model allows operators to license select Openwave software products and services. Openwave hosts the products and services, eliminating the need for operators to install and maintain the applications on their networks, and also reducing deployment costs.
In addition, the SaaS model dramatically diminishes the time required for carriers to be up and running on these applications. As a result carriers can reduce the time to introduce new subscriber offerings and services to a matter of weeks instead of months, permitting faster actualisation of new service revenues.
Susan Davies, senior vice president of products and worldwide support, Openwave, said: “Carriers are under tremendous pressure to reduce the risks of deploying new applications and services in-network, and at the same time reduce operating expenses including dedicated staff to manage new products and services. Applications and services delivered through Openwave’s SaaS offering help carriers mitigate the risks associated with deploying and maintaining large scale application systems such as email and service enablers while providing carriers with guaranteed service availability, predictable costs, and the option of testing an offering prior to fully deploying it into their network.”
Openwave’s SaaS offering is offered as a dedicated or shared offering suitable for carriers of all sizes. Smaller carriers in particular may take advantage of offering leading services without taking on the responsibility of running the operations through their network while ensuring a very high service availability guarantee of approximately 99.99% to their end users.
