Rumours have been circulating around the city over the past few days that Vodafone may make a move to buy TalkTalk. After the mobile operator sold its stake in Verizon for a reported £81 billion rumours have been flying that Vodafone is looking to bolster its business, particularly in Europe where growth has slowed. Shares in the mobile operator are down 17% this year and perhaps a major acquisition will bring some exciting news for investors
Some city traders have been touting TalkTalk as a potential target for a deal last week, helping shares jump more than 4%, and plenty of day traders are still buying into the rumour. TalkTalk rose 3.2p to 288.2p, and Vodafone climbed 3.9p to 201.5p.
