Sangoma is known best for their gateway products, session border controllers, SIP Station offering, and stewardship of the highly successful FreePBX Project. This acquisition will create a value-based communications supplier with the ability to serve a broad customer set.
This move will merge of the two largest open source communications suppliers in the world, Asterisk and FreePBX, under one umbrella.
Digium will remain as a legal entity and operate as a Sangoma subsidiary. Digium will be listed as “Digium, A Sangoma Company” in the near future.
There is no immediate plans to discontinue products on either side nor any plans to change channel structure on either side.
Over the next 90 days, the combined management teams will be heads down working on detailed integration planning. This acquisition is one that focuses primarily on scale, financial strength, and complementary products and people.
