A range of fibre options including 1GbE, 2G fibre channel, 10GbE, 10Gbps (SDH) and 10Gbps (OTN) are all now available within just five days in the whole of the London area, with estimates for ultra-high bandwidth options such as Vtesse’s newly launched 100GbE service available on request.
“Typical lead times for new networking services are out of step with enterprise requirements, particularly when you consider that even today’s lengthy lead times are often missed - not always by slim margins either,” says Vtesse CEO, David Wickham. “We hope that our new five day service will remove a bottleneck for cloud providers looking for fast resilient data centre connectivity, which are often forced to wait for months before their service is up and running.”
With the uptake of cloud computing deployments in the enterprise, networking requirements are becoming ever more complex and businesses need their networks to be provisioned as quickly as possible in order to support the use of these ‘on demand’ services. As Wickham explains, “The advent of the cloud and other ‘on demand’ services only serve to highlight that typical network service delivery times are still stuck the last century. In combination with Optical Flex, our service which allows customers to manage variable demand across their networks, Vtesse is making it easier and quicker for companies to manage the demands of burgeoning IT trends such as big data.”
