The new BQ Aquaris X5 comes with a 5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP device on the front. It also features dual SIM, 4G connectivity and a 2,900mAh battery, which BQ says provides a longer battery life than other smartphones with similar specifications thanks to operating system optimisation and low-power components. The open-source Cynaogen operating environment can be customised to meet the user’s individual needs. It comes with tools for advanced call identification and spam blocking. Users can also control which apps can access specific personal data.

The BQ Aquaris X5 should be available to UK and Ireland customers by mid-January and is expected to Retail for £179.
