Telcom to rollout fibre in North West

Telcom has become an Ofcom regulated entity, enabling further roll-out of full fibre services across the North West

The Manchester based technology company Telcom has announced today it has been granted Code powers from Ofcom. This will enable the company to deploy new fibre infrastructure faster and more cost effectively to customers across the UK.

With a Government aim to switch-off copper networks by 2025, fibre rollout is increasingly necessary to support new tech, growing demand for higher levels of connection reliability and bandwidth to enable businesses to benefit from faster upload and download speeds.

Telcom will now expedite the roll out of its fibre network in Manchester and the wider North West passing hundreds of residential and commercial premises that will then benefit from its superior connectivity services. Telcom has already had success installing its Preconnect solution for Legal & General, Aviva and JLL to bring their commercial property portfolio the fastest internet in the country. This announcement will enable Telcom to bring 10Gbps capable internet connectivity to even more customers in even more cities.

Sean Anstee, Director of Telcom Infrastructure said “This is another massive step forward for us as a business, we are excited to be given these powers from Ofcom. Building fibre networks enables us to provide communities and businesses with access to affordable ultrafast internet, powered by our own fibre infrastructure network.

This is a huge vote of confidence in our plans from Ofcom and we are looking to develop new networks across the North West in 2020. Our goal is to reduce costs and to facilitate broader access to services in areas once monopolised by a small number of providers.

More broadly, this is a huge moment for the wider Telcom Group, as these powers enable our different businesses to complement each other and so that we are uniquely positioned in our sector as a full stack, end-to-end connectivity provider. This means we provision the entirety of a customers internet connection, eliminating costs and offering greater levels of service, affordability and reliability."
