The ITP appoints new board member

The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) has announced the appointment of a new member to its board of directors.

Maria Cuevas (pictured) is networks research director at BT Group. She leads the networks infrastructure research unit in BT’s Group’s research and network strategy department, where she identifies and co-develops new technologies to enhance the company’s networks and services.

Throughout her 24 years at BT Group, Cuevas has played multiple roles across design, architecture, technology strategy and research. She has been involved in a number of transformational programmes and projects including all-IP transformation, spectrum acquisition and platform procurement.

Cuevas has also played a key role in standards and industry bodies, including ETSI, the GSMA and more recently the Telcom Infrastructure Project, where she is member of the Technical Committee.

Charlotte Goodwill, CEO, the ITP, said, “We are delighted to welcome Maria to the ITP board of directors, she brings a wealth of knowledge from her extensive telecoms background, and we look forward to her input and guidance in driving the ITP forward with a fresh and unique perspective.”

The board of the ITP governs the work of the ITP and comprises senior personnel from across the sector. Each member brings expertise gained in other industries and together are responsible for running the business on behalf of ITP members.
