The ITP unveils framework to revolutionise career pathways

The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) has announced the launch of the Telecoms ICT Career Framework.

This new initiative has been developed in partnership with DSIT, Ofcom and UKTIN to revolutionise career pathways within the sector.

Despite rapid evolution and growth across the industry, there has not been a standardised framework for telecoms roles. This new framework (pictured below) looks to address that and has been developed in response to the industry’s need for a comprehensive guide that outlines clear routes into and throughout the sector.

Charlotte Goodwill, CEO, the ITP (pictured above), explained, “We are thrilled to introduce the Telecoms ICT Career Framework, a milestone achievement made possible by the dedication and collaboration of industry experts, contributors and supporters.

“This represents a significant step forward in providing clarity and guidance to professionals seeking to navigate their careers within the evolving telecoms landscape.”

The framework is designed to evolve and adapt over time, reflecting the ever-changing nature of the industry and incorporating feedback from industry members. This ongoing collaborative effort will help to ensure that the framework remains relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of telecoms professionals.

Goodwill added, “We recognise that the career framework is a living document that relies on the engagement and input of our members and the broader industry. We encourage individuals working in telecoms roles to come forward and share their insights, experiences and expertise to further enhance and refine the framework to better serve the needs of our industry.”

As part of the initiative, the ITP is inviting individuals working in telecoms roles to contribute job details and short “day in the life” videos to be included in the framework.

These videos will provide insights into the realities of working in various telecoms positions, offering aspiring professionals a first-hand glimpse into the diverse opportunities available within the industry.

This initiative has been endorsed by a number of organisations including: Ofcom, DSIT, BT Group, Vorboss, Openreach, UKTIN Cluttons, Cornerstone, Ogi, WM5G Satellite Applications Catapult, and UKTL.
