In 5 short years, Walking With the Wounded has helped over 2,500 British military veterans to make the transition to civilian life. They’ve raised awareness and inspired wounded ex-servicemen and women to achieve at the highest level, conducting ambitious expeditions to the North Pole, South Pole and Everest with Prince Harry as Expedition Patron. This month, they’re bringing the expeditions closer to home by conducting the Walk Of Britain - a 1000 mile walk due to finish at Buckingham Palace on 1st November.
These activities have made their mission a reality and as a result they have been honoured with a Special Recognition Award at the Pride of Britain Awards, televised on 1st October.
Throughout their work with veterans and in raising funds and awareness, Walking With The Wounded needs to coordinate the efforts of, and collaborate with, hundreds of external organisations, partners and corporate sponsors. They selected a British UC system, ipcortex, supplied by Norfolk-based Red5 Networks who have supported them through their recent growth; this solution will provide the means for them to communicate effectively as they continue to change lives.
