Eleven members of VAD Wick Hill, including the chairman Ian Kilpatrick, UK managing director Ken Ward, and the sales director Richard Carpenter, took part at the weekend in the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton bike ride. Some 28,000 cyclists tackled the 54-mile course to help raise funds for pioneering research into heart disease.
Named the Wick Hill ‘Ruff Riders,’ the eleven team members, not all of whom were in the first flush of youth, completed the endurance test, reaching Brighton in surprisingly good time. This was despite extended meal breaks for some, mechanical problems and one rider who had a slight argument with a car. Many of the team had been in training around the lanes of Surrey for some time in preparation for the event.
The effort was sponsored by several Wick Hill vendors including Becrypt, Check Point, Kaspersky Lab, Imation, Silver Peak and WatchGuard. Wick Hill expects to raise close to £5,000 for the British Heart Foundation. Donations can still be made at
