Skuku is coming to the UK this month, with a tour of our fair country from mid September.

The Israeli-based EIM Telecom, the creator of Skuku, is launching its Skuku Phone and Skuku Stick in the UK from the end of the month through large retailers, which at the time of going to print EIM was not at liberty to name.

The idea behind the Skuku products is combining the users SIM card from their mobile with a PC to enable them to tap back into their local cellular call rates, from anywhere in the world.

From the end of September EIM is launching the Skuku range in the UK and India, with pilots running in the Netherlands, France, Spain and Turkey. By the end of 2008 the products will be rolled out to over ten countries, Lior Tzabari, Skuku’s vice president of marketing told Mobile Business.

This solution combines GSM technology with the internet and enables any user with an internet connection to make VoIP calls and send text messages using their own SIM card and personal computer.

Skuku phone transforms the user’s PC into their personal mobile phone,

keeping all of the phone’s features and allowing low cost VoIP and text messaging. The user keeps their own personal phone number and enjoys all the other features of their mobile phone, including contact lists and text messaging.

Skuku phone also enables receiving and making of international calls from anywhere in the world at low IP tariffs, while inter-network calls are free between Skuku users. The Skuku phone now allows users to enjoy the added convenience of using an actual phone-like handset to make and receive calls from their PC.

Skuku Phone will set users back around £25.

 

Skuku Stick

Skuku Stick is a USB device that turns a PC into a mobile phone once a SIM-card in inserted. It allows user to pay only the local airtime charges when making and receiving calls from their home country. The user keeps their own personal phone number and enjoys all the other features of their mobile phone, including contact lists and text messaging.

Skuku stick also enables receiving and making of international calls from anywhere in the world at low IP tariffs, while inter-network calls are free.

Skuku Stick is due to cost customers around £12.

Jabra SP700

With an operating range of up to 10 metres, the Jabra SP700 is compatible with other Bluetooth devices that have Bluetooth 1.1 or higher specifications and support.
