Chess Host Sports Day for East Cheshire Hospice

The latest charity effort from the Chess team took their people back to school with a themed sports day at Chess HQ.

The one-team spirit at Chess was evident on the day, shown by the encouragement and support everyone gave each other competing in events such as the egg and spoon, sack, wheelbarrow and relay races.

The charity event managed to raise £400 for the cause and is a clear indication of why Chess have been voted in the Sunday Times top 100 companies to work for in successive years since 2006.

David Pollock, Chess Chief Executive stated “It’s part of our culture to support local charities and the East Cheshire Hospice is close to many people’s hearts at Chess. Our former Operations Director Julie Wright spent her final days in their care and we will always play our part in supporting the excellent work they do at the Hospice.”

Commenting on the day David continued “I am always astounded by the commitment and enthusiasm our people demonstrate in supporting the culture and community spirit of the company, it’s what makes us a great place to work and a great place to be a customer.”

Chess currently in their 21st year of trading also recently held their annual summer conference filling out a 230 seated cinema at the Printworks in Manchester as their senior managers presented the company strategy to their people.
