Technical Director of M247, Chris Byrd said, “We are winning more and more business in Scotland, specifically in the big business sector, and establishing this new POP means we’re able to improve performance for users of our network. Previously, services would have had to backhaul all the way to Manchester and then back to Edinburgh or, even worse, to London and back. Now, Scottish businesses can have direct access to our network backbone, which represents a significant performance improvement”.
Among other Internet services, M247 operates a broad range of wholesale network services and many of the major Internet Service Providers throughout Europe depend on its infrastructure. There are additional plans in the pipeline to improve Internet performance even further in Scotland and LINX, the London Internet Exchange, a global leader in its field, is investigating how they too can be an integral part of the future of Internet connectivity in Scotland.
Chris Byrd adds, “We all know that Scotland is seriously considering Independence from the UK and, if this takes place as they hope it will, Scottish businesses will demand the best speeds and resiliency for their Internet network services. Our new POP is a strategically important step in the right direction for these businesses and we will be helping to guarantee that Scotland will be right up there alongside the fastest and the best”
