In recent months Purdicom has experienced a huge increase in demand for high quality, reliable wireless backhaul solutions, driven by the surge in growth of rural and urban WISPs along with CCTV solution providers.
As a Ceragon and Cambium Networks distributor, Purdicom already offers a large number of links licensed from Ofcom. Using licensed technology provides the extra layer of security that customers need, however the long lead times from Ofcom along with the high cost of the spectrum hinder take-up by businesses.
Thanks to the new agreement with MLL Telecom, Purdicom will be able to provide licensed links in just one week and offer significant discounts against the prices usually charged by Ofcom. Purdicom plans to offer its customers pre-packaged deals on links to include the hardware, planning, spectrum and NOC services, lowering the barriers for adoption.
Purdicom MD Hugh Garrod said, “We have seen significant growth in many of our ISP customers in recent months, driven by government backed investment schemes such as BDUK and Connected Cities. The common message from these customers is their desire to have good quality, reliable backhaul at an affordable price. Traditionally these customers have used 5GHz but the band is becoming increasingly congested due to the prevalence of Wi-Fi networks. This unique agreement allows us to satisfy that demand with carrier grade licensed technology at enterprise prices.”
Karl Edwards, Chief Commercial Officer at MLL Telecom comments, “This landmark agreement is part of our ongoing mission to deliver secure, cost-effective and high quality connectivity for the UK’s fast growing digital economy. By licensing our spectrum to Purdicom, we’re able to bring more spectrum to the marketplace where it can be used for the benefit of businesses across the country. Working with Purdicom also opens up a new revenue stream for us, strengthening our position in the increasingly competitive market.”
