NG Bailey Awarded MOD Contract Extension

NG Bailey has announced that it has been awarded an extension to its contract with BT until July 2015. The overall contract will help the Ministry of Defence (MOD) manage their voice and data networks across more than a quarter of a million MOD buildings, comms rooms and underground cable ducts.

NG Bailey was first awarded the maintenance contract in 2009 as part of the wider Defence Fixed Telecommunications Service (DFTS) Agreement that BT delivers on behalf of the MOD.

Supporting communications across more than 210 military bases, DFTS helps the MOD ensure the continuity and reliability of its communications infrastructure, including a service which supports the physical connection of most major UK military sites.

The extended agreement will continue to deliver standardisation and better predictability of service, allowing the MOD to make better decisions about its communications infrastructure, from individual moves to major upgrades and changes. The agreement also offers improved management information, allowing activities to be planned better with less risk.

Bob Dunnett, managing director of NG Bailey’s IT Services division, said: “The continuity and reliability of communications is critical for the UK’s Armed Forces and NG Bailey looks forward to working with BT for a further two years to deliver this integral programme of activity.”

David Wilson, vice president for Defence and Security at BT Global Services, added: “We are proud to be at the heart of the long-term programme of MOD communications development, and NG Bailey has played an instrumental part in that. We are delighted to be continuing to work together with them through this contract extension.”
