The acquisition brings 7,000 more connections to OneCom, which is already the UK’s largest independent business-to-business communications provider.
The Communications Centre, established in 1990, has offices in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud. Like OneCom it has a reputation for excellent customer service and is a Vodafone Partner company.
The acquisition gives OneCom, whose headquarters are in Whiteley, Hampshire, a base in Gloucestershire to complement its offices in Camberley, Leeds, Hereford, Birmingham, Southampton, Bristol, Telford, Plymouth and Norfolk.
OneCom chief executive Darren Ridge said: “This is a strategic acquisition for OneCom and one which makes excellent business sense.
“The Communications Centre has 7,000 mobile phone customers and a good base of fixed line customers.
“It’s a well-run, lean business and is in a new area for us which fits in with our plans to continue to increase OneCom’s geographic spread.”
This acquisition wraps up a year of expansion for OneCom, which was formed by a merger of Premier Telecom and Business Phones Direct during the summer.
Since the merger, which created a company with a turnover in excess of £40million, OneCom has made several acquisitions including purchase of Brighton-based Black Sheep Communications, IT services provider Simplicity4, and Norfolk telecoms firm OneStream.
OneCom intends to build on its success next year by continuing to grow and by focusing on its unified communications solutions, which manage fixed line, mobile and internet access in one comprehensive package.
The company recently appointed Stephen Hunter, formerly a Director of Hampshire Trust Bank, as its chairman. He is tasked with reviewing OneCom’s structures and processes as the company seeks to continue its expansion.
